Where your game lives
What your site needs
Section titled “What your site needs”| Your site needs | Details |
|---|---|
An https:// address |
Plain http:// is refused when you add the game. |
| Public access | No login, password or waiting list in front of the game. A reviewer has to be able to play it. |
| A way to prove it is yours | A meta tag in the page’s HTML, or a TXT record on the domain. See Verify your domain. |
| Optional: framing allowed | If your site allows it, players can play inside Alldle. If not, the game opens in a new tab. See Allow embedding. |
Choosing a host
Section titled “Choosing a host”Any host that serves your page over HTTPS works. A daily puzzle is often a set of static files, which these hosts serve with a free tier:
- Cloudflare Pages or Workers
- GitHub Pages
- Netlify
- Vercel
- your own server
Shared addresses
Section titled “Shared addresses”If your game is at an address you only partly control, such as yourname.itch.io or yourgame.pages.dev:
- The meta tag works when you can edit the HTML of the page itself.
- The DNS record needs a domain you own, so it is not an option on a shared address.
- If neither works, write to us and we will verify it by hand.
A domain of your own avoids all of this, and your listing keeps working if you ever change host.
When hosting arrives
Section titled “When hosting arrives”You do not need to prepare anything or wait for it. We will explain the details when it is ready.
