Pick the one a player would look under. A reviewer can correct it when the game clearly belongs elsewhere.

Choosing between two
Section titled “Choosing between two”The subject beats the format. A game about guessing League of Legends characters belongs in Video Games, not Guessing. A geography quiz belongs in Geography, not Trivia.
Use Guessing and Misc last. They are for games that really have no better home.

Subcategories
Section titled “Subcategories”Each category has subcategories, such as Wordle-like under Words. Alldle files games into them on its side, and they power the type filters on category pages. You do not pick one, and a new game may not have one straight away.
Universes are something else
Section titled “Universes are something else”A category is a kind of game. A universe is the world it is drawn from. A Pokémon guessing game is in Video Games, in the Pokémon universe.
